VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology), Vellore, Tamil Nadu was established in 1984 as an engineering college. It gained university status in 2001 under the Union ministry of HRD department. It offers 64 undergraduate courses, 35 postgraduate courses, and 16 integrated courses.

Research Program
The Institue offers a Ph.D. program in more than 50 subjects. For admission, to the Ph.D. program, a relevant master’s degree from a recognized university is required. The selection to the Ph.d. program is based on the performance in the VITREE score, PG Degree marks, Research proposal, and Interview. Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed, shall appear for VITREE, a Computer Based Test for 2 hours at their test venue of choice.
The VIT also Offers an integrated Ph.D. program in engineering. The selection for the integrated program is based on the performance in the VITREE score, B.E. / B.Tech. Degree marks, Research proposal, and Personal Interview. Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed, shall appear for VITREE, a Computer Based Test for 2 hours at their test venue of choice.
The fee for the Ph.D. program is ₹ 1,00,000/-.
Admission Process at Vellore Institute of Technology
Undergraduate Program
The step-by-step process of admission to the Vellore Institute of Technology:
- Fill out the application form for VITEEE by visiting https://viteee.vit.ac.in/.
- The application form will be verified and scrutinized.
- Generate the link for test slot booking.
- Selection of the test center, admit card, and slot.
- Appear for the VITEEE exam and wait for the result.

- Provisional admission to the B.Tech. program.

For B.Design
No separate entrance exam is required for admission to the B.Design program. But the Qualified UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) score is mandatory for admission. The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of 10+2 marks and a Valid UCEED score.
For B.Arch.
No separate entrance exam is required admission is based on the score obtained in NATA and 10+2 exams. The shortlisted candidates will be informed and invited for admission.
BCA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc. Programmes
There is no Entrance Examination. official Notification will be provided on our website on issuing of the application. The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of 10+2 marks and the subject of study.
For BBA LL.B and BA LL.B
A Notification will be provided on our website on issuing the application. After that, the merit list is prepared based on performance in 10+2 and valid CLAT/LSAT score. The candidate qualified and has been called for counseling does not guarantee admission to him/her. This depends upon the performance of the GDPI and the availability of seats.
For an integrated M.Tech program
The merit list will be prepared based on the score obtained in the 10+2 exam. The admission will be made purely on the merit list. The seat will be allotted based on Rank, Preference of Campus, and Programme.
For M.Sc. Integrated program
Applicants are processed in the order of merit based on the aggregate of marks (rounded to 2 decimal points) secured overall subjects in the +2 / Higher Secondary Examination. After the declaration of results applicants can give their campus and program preferences, (i.e., applicants can give “n” number of choices). The seat will be allotted based on Rank, Preference of Campus, and Programme.
Postgraduate programs
MBA
The selection will be based on the best score secured in VITBEE-2022 or a valid Aptitude test score of CAT / XAT / MAT / NMAT / GMAT / CMAT / ATMA. UG Marks and online interviews are also taken into consideration before the preparation of the merit list. However, the relevant work experience will be an added advantage.
M.Tech. and MCA program
An entrance exam is there for admission to the M.Tech. program. The applicants should register for VITMEE, a Computer Based Objective test at indicated test centers. The Short-listed Candidates will be asked to choose their preference of campus and branch. The candidates will have to pay an advance payment of ₹ 1,00,000/- for admission confirmation.
M.Sc. Program
The Admission is primarily based on the UG marks. A merit list is prepared, and the admission is as per the seat availability and branch. The application to the M.Sc. program begins in the month of March. Shortlisted candidate names are published on the college website.
M.Design
The online application is invited by paying ₹ 1200/-. Short-listed candidates’ list will be published on the VIT website or via personal SMS and an E-mail will be sent to the registered mobile number and E-mail ID, for an Interview/Counselling at Vellore. Short-listed Candidates will have to pay Rs. 1 lakh towards the advance fee. Allotment of seats for a program is final and cannot be changed to another program under any circumstances.
Vellore Institute of Technology: Infrastructure
VIT campus is spread across a vast area of 372 acres. The campus of VIT is a state-of-the-art infrastructure provided for both students and faculty. Moreover, the college provides the following facility to its students:
- Hostel: There is a total of 23 hostels 17 for boys and 6 for girls. The hostels are available in single, double, and triple occupancy. AC and non-AC rooms are also available. The gym facility with a swimming pool is also there separate for both boys and girls.
- Library: Central library spread over an area of 7770 sq.m. The library has a specialized collection of books, journals & other resources in sciences, engineering and technology, biotechnology, humanities, social sciences, and management ranging from printed books, e-books, back volumes, and CDs\DVDs.
- Cafeteria: the cafe with good food from different cuisines and spaces. The hygienic food is available throughout the day to students and staff.
- Shuttle service: the transport facility is provided to drop the students within the campus from one point to another at a very nominal charge.
- Sports complex: both indoor and outdoor sports are given equal weightage. Some of the sports at the college are Squash Court, Swimming Pool, Two Hockey Ground, Seven Volleyball Court, Athletics (Track & Field), Four Handball Courts, Snooker Tables Eighteen Badminton Courts, Seven Basketball Courts, Two Cricket Grounds, Four Football Grounds, and lawn tennis court.
- Labs: more than 25 labs are established in the college as per the requirement of the course. These labs are equipped with the latest techniques and equipment.
